Similac Recall

Anita lounging on the couch with her phone and slippers
At the end of the day on my birthday Jim ran to walmart to pick up Similac as we were almost out and I was already giving Anita the end of it while preparing to go to bed.  He came back and let me know that Similac in the container we use is on recall.  We looked it up and of course ours were for sure on recall due to beetles and larvae in the formula.  Result is gastrointestinal problems and diarrhea.  The exact problems Anita has had for two and a half weeks now.  Grandpa said we should call her beetle.  Poor baby, Jim did purchase Similac in a different container and as soon as we finish it she will start on whole milk.  We're hoping this resolves her problem but we're pretty angry with Similac.

Great Birthday

Made it through the day at work and came home to Jim and Anita waiting to take me to dinner.  We all had fun at Famous Dave's and had more than plenty to eat.  Anita has "nose trouble" as Jim calls it.  She enjoys staring at everyone and being right in the action.  Our table was in a busy aisle so she had plenty to see and enjoyed waving and saying hi to people.  The best gift of all this year is Anita's love which completes our family.  Now it's the countdown to her birthday.

I'm 39 today

Even in desperate need of a haircut I don't feel like I look 39 today.  This was from the party on Sunday and Anita was done taking pictures.  I don't blame her, it's been two weeks now with diarrhea.  Yesterday grandpa had to be called to come home early for clean up duty after a blow out in her high chair.  We go back to the doctor next week with the hope of finding out what is going on.  The bendadryl has helped because she hasn't been acting sick or running a fever for a week which is a blessing.  Sadly that is a great improvement for over 3 months.  Now if we get everything resolved she might be feeling great by her birthday.  Jim starts his new job at Stream on Monday.  We will be in transition for awhile during training and then regular hours after three weeks.  Looking forward to a family potluck/baby shower on Sunday put on by friends at work.

Sunday Birthday Parties

Javier, Lucy and Anna
On Sunday we had two birthday parties to attend.  The first was for Pat's son Quentin and he turned 4.  The next was for September birthdays on Jim's side of the family.  We had a fun day with plenty to eat.

Scarecrow Festival

they knew she had a snack

We all went to the Scarecrow Festival in Akron today and it was a muddy mess and cold.  Just stayed about half an hour, went to a cafe in town for lunch and came on home.  Highlight was Anita touching a bunny and we're thinking these other things are a mule/donkey??

We're all sick

After Anita did so good yesterday morning, she started back with diarrhea and developed terrible diaper rash quickly.  It was a tough afternoon/evening with Aveeno baths, airing out (which she loved) and lots of special cream.  Poor baby is a lot better today but still sore.  Took her to the pediatrician today and her verdict is that as much as she has been sick all summer this must be allergies.  She thinks the diarrhea and fever has been viral but the respiratory symptoms are allergies.  Anita had her first dose of Benadryl this evening, watched Gabba Gabba and is in bed.  I have not felt well either and went to urgent care this evening.  The nurse told me my throat looked horrible and then the doctor pretty much said the same.  Tested for strep and tonsillitis which came back negative so they said my favorite phrase, "it's viral."  Told me to just treat the symptoms which I did by having ice cream when I came home.  Missed cousin Patti stopping by this evening as she came over to squish Anita.

Anita's 1st day

Anita's 1st day of life.  The nurses gave her the fancy hat because they said she had lots of attitude.

Monday morning

Anita is finally feeling better this morning and woke up without a fever.  She still has a rash on her legs but is able to play by herself and allow me to move more than a couple feet from her without screaming.  Of course, this means it's Monday and I have to go back to work.  Anita is going to grandma's after her nap this morning and Jim is out looking for work.

Art Splash Pictures

These are pictures from Art Splash.  Last year, Kristina would not go on this and told me that I could not make her do it.  This year she was ready for action and did a great job.  Anita enjoyed the show and cheered Kristina on.

Home sick (again)

Poor little Anita is home sick again today.  Been feeling under the weather for a couple days but woke up this morning with a 102.8 temperature.  We went to St. Luke's ER figuring on an ear infection but they look "perfect."  The doctor states it is viral.  Now we're home for the day and she is taking a nap in her Dodgers t-shirt to help her feel better.  We're also making some cupcakes for Brenda and JoJo's birthday.  We're supposed to be celebrating tonight and tomorrow but not sure if any of that will happen.  We are enjoying the cooler temperature and light rain today while we hang out and drink Pedialyte.

Anita crawl/walk stage

This is Anita's step between crawling and walking.  She had a busy day today with grandma at the gym.  Then she went to pick up Kristina from school and to visit great grandma Cline.  She is busy climbing everything she can and even what she is not supposed too.  Tomorrow we are going to Art Splash in the morning and just relaxing in the afternoon.  It has been a busy and emotional week so we are ready to chill at home.

Court is over!!

So relieved that court is over and now Anita is officially(legally) placed with us.  She has to be in our care legally for six months before the adoption is final.  We couldn't be happier and look forward to a big celebration in March!  Grandma and Grandpa were able to go to court with us today and then we all had a nice lunch together afterwards.  For the adoption hearing in March we are allowed to bring more family members.  I'll let everyone know as soon as we know the date and we would glad for everyone to join us as it will be a great day of welcoming Anita home forever.  It's time for a nap and then we are going to play at the mall and have dinner with Brenda and Kristina.
